Spring Security Essentials

Spring is the perfect time to upgrade the security around your home. In today’s blog, we’ll look at some essential security products for the warmer months.

Window security

The warmer weather will see many of us fling open the windows in the hopes of catching a cool breeze. But an unrestricted window opening can be deadly. It’s shocking to hear that a child falls from a window or balcony on almost a weekly basis in Australia. New regulations came into force earlier this year in NSW to help prevent this from happening. And while they may not apply to other states as yet, installing window restrictors to your windows is advisable if you have young children. Remsafe is a leading manufacturer of window restrictors to suit a range of materials and opening styles. We’re a big fan of their child safety cable restrictors. They’re easy to install, effective and a non-obtrusive addition to your interior design.

Bike security

If you’re like me, Spring denotes the beginning of the bike-friendly seasons. Treat your two-wheeled chariot to a stylish security upgrade with the Noke Smart Padlock. As the name suggests, the Noke doesn’t require a key or combination to open - all you need is a Bluetooth enabled smartphone. When you click the padlock, the Noke automatically searches for a phone with a compatible key and unlocks if a key is found. You can even use the Noke app to give your friends or family permission to unlock your Noke using their phones.

If you’re after a more traditional approach to your bike security, then you can’t go past a Kryptonite U-Lock. The original creators of the U-Lock, a staple product of bike enthusiasts worldwide, have been at the forefront of bike security for over 45 years. The modern U-Lock is iconic outside of cycling circles, too, having won numerous mechanical and aesthetic awards. Their coloured grading system provides a quick and easy way to choose the level of protection suitable for you; grey products provide moderate security, the orange provides high security, and the yellow provides the ultimate security.

Key storage

If you’re planning to head out of town for the upcoming summer holidays, you may want to think about installing a key safe. These handy little units let you safely store keys outside your home. They’re inexpensive and easy to install – a great way to give a neighbour or family member access to your home while you’re away.
